Up for auction is a Roman silver fouree Antoninianus of Gordian III from 239 AD.
The original design was minted in silver, although this coin has been struck in base metal and coated in silver, in an unlawful effort to enter the currency stream unnoticed.

- Radiate bust right, draped and cuirassed.

- Jupiter standing left, with thunderbolt and scepter.
