Up for auction is a Roman silver denarius coin of Caracalla from 210-212 AD
The original design was minted in silver, although this coin has been struck in base metal and coated in silver, in an unlawful effort to enter the currency stream unnoticed.

- Salus standing facing, holding rudder on globe and feeding snake rising from altar.
